If you are like me, a facial is a luxury, and one I don’t often find time for unless I am on vacation at a resort that boasts a spa. So, when I was offered a chance to experience Vibraderm, a skin treatment for the face and body, I jumped at the chance. I didn’t know quite to expect, but I had heard the Microdermabrasion skin treatment helps create a more youthful and vibrant appearance for your skin. Vibraderm is a little different – it is a crystal-free microdermabrasion alternative, which means it is safer and more effective. And, you will see results after a single treatment!
Having two small children, and running my own business, I find myself sleep deprived with limited time to pamper myself, or my skin. So, I was anxiously awaiting my appointment with Heather Hudgins, Esthetician at The Edge on Central Salon & Spa. She led me to a soft-lit room, where I put on a robe and relaxed on a massage table. The sound of peaceful music filled the room, along with aromatic fragrances. I was quickly relaxed and looking forward to my treatment.
Vibradermbrasion is clinically proven to effectively exfoliate and produce new collagen. It also helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, acne and acne scaring – all of which I have visible signs of on my face, and chest. My years of life guarding and sun worshiping have paid their toll on my skin, as well as hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and the normal signs of aging. I wasn’t ready for the more drastic options like Botox, so I was excited for an alternative that claims to have similar results.
The Vibraderm Skin Restoration System claims to show results after just one treatment. I was a little skeptical, but open to experiencing the difference for myself. The esthetician looked at my skin and determined my problem areas, skin pigmentation, etc and assessed the custom mode of treatment that would suit me best. First, my skin was cleansed, similar to a traditional facial, next lotion was applied to my face, neck and chest, and then the process began.
The system consists of a mini electric paddle that vibrates and is applied to the skin in a circular motion. It feels like a mini massage for the face, neck and chest. In some areas, there is a little sting and sensitivity – my lips were one area in particular that felt odd while she was doing it, but felt very smooth and soft afterwards. It’s funny, during the treatment, I felt like my skin was getting a mini workout, and the brochure describes the treatment as “yoga for your skin.” I can certainly see why.
The treatment itself was similar to that of a facial – about 45 minutes from start to finish, and I found myself wanting it to be longer. Heather did tell me my skin would feel like I had a slight sunburn for up to 24 hours, but that it would subside. I did experience the sting for about 12 hours, but nothing that was uncomfortable – I actually liked feeling it because I knew some of those dead skin cells were removed so that new ones could be generated. My skin felt smooth, soft and was definitely radiant. I looked well rested and my skin tone appeared more even – that evening, I didn’t even feel like I needed to put on any make-up to brighten my skin.
The Vibraderm Skin Restoration System actually consists of 5 comfortable in-office exfoliation treatments and 5 in-office super infusion treatments. It is great for skin texture treatment, and pigment discoloration treatment. The results: reduces inflammation and redness, reduces age spots and sun damage, reduces uneven pigmentation, reduces adult and hormonal acne, and produces rejuvenating collagen.
I saw measurable results from a single treatment, so I can imagine the difference after the entire system. Now, the only challenge is finding the time to do so. I would certainly recommend you experience this unique system for yourself at The Edge Salon & Spa on Central. Ask for Heather Hudgins. The Edge offers an assortment of other Medi-Spa services as well. The treatment I had (face, neck and chest) was $150 for a single treatment –it is more expensive than a deluxe facial, but the results are also much better than a facial. The Edge does offer specials and packages, so I would inquire for savings. The Edge just added to their menu: Add a vibraface on to any facial a vibraface for an extra $45.Tell your husband or significant other to treat you to this next time he’s thinking of buying you a massage or nail package – it’s a nice way to pamper your skin!
Note: Vibraderm is a unique patented system, dermatologist developed, clinically tested with scientifically verified results.
