High-energy retirees Irene Baum and Kathy Fleming wanted to open a business that was familyfriendly and fun; an ice-cream parlor was the perfect fit. And, ‘screwballs’ describes the owners to a tee: fun loving and irreverent.
The retro 50’sthemed parlor will serve snowballs, soft-serve and ultra-premium hand-dipped ice cream with all the trimmings! Of course, sundaes, shakes, floats, malts and banana splits are also on the menu.
The ice-cream, from MD-based Moorenko’s Ice Cream, is lovingly local and frankly, fabulous. The ice-cream is hormone-free and delicious. The lively women are happy to join the community and look forward to meeting their neighbors. Stop in for a tasty treat!

I just stopped in to screwballs 2 days ago. They opened this past weekend. Spoke with Kathy and Irene, they said for now they are open Tuesday-Sunday from about 1pm to 9pm. Still working some things out but they are open and excited!

I am a Locust Point resident and Screwballs is my new favorite destination for evening walks after dinner (or, I’ll admit it, before dinner). The ice cream is awesome, so far I have ordered the Butter Pecan (a classic done right) and the White Chocolate Mint (white chocolate ice cream with real mint leaves in it). There’s another crazy flavor called Red Hot Chocolate which was chocolate ice cream w/cayenne pepper that really sneaks up on you. They also have free dog biscuits so my dog ends up getting a treat too!
