These are the wines to watch (and drink) in 2010. Enjoy!

2008 Burgans Albariño Rias Baixas, Spain
Is light yellow-gold-colored with a nose of mineral, spring flowers, and lemon peel. Ripe, balanced, and concentrated, this is an ideal match for flaky fish courses. Exotically perfumed nose displays smoky peach, mango and papaya, plus a strong floral accent. Deep and chewy, with more intensity than most Albarinos. Tropical fruit flavors coat the palate and pick up a subtle herbal note on the back end. This could handle richer foods. Great with oysters, lightly fried white fish or even roast chicken. An ideal starter wine to any dinner party.

2008 Trenza Rosado, San Luis Obispo, California
This is an interesting Rosé of Grenache, Syrah & Mourvedre. The name Trenza is Spanish for braid and the winery is dedicated to the production of Spanish-influenced New World blends. Fresh strawberries and minerals on the nose, this wine tastes exactly like it smells. Lovely and dry all the way through to the finish. This is a great fall rose’ it has enough structure to stand up to your autumn delights.

Black Ankle Passeggiata, Frederick, Maryland
Is a light to medium bodied wine, with a translucent ruby color and hints of raspberries and butterscotch on the nose. This wine dances across the palate with notes of vanilla, red fruits and exotic spices. This is an all around red wine. Great for new red wine drinkers. It’s a blend of their finish red grapes comprising mostly of Syrah grapes. It goes well with just about any dish; it would be perfect with a roasted chicken and root vegetable as well as roasted pork shoulder. Black Ankle is by far Maryland’s premier winery.

2006 Zuccardi  Bonarda Serie A, Mendoza Argentina
This 100% Bonarda has a rich violet color, and exudes sensuous aromas of blueberry and blackberry. It is a vivacious wine, full of pure ripe fruit, yet soft in style with an attractive finish.
