Happy and healthy New Year! The New Year brings opportunity and hope for goals. It’s that time of year that I find my personal training clients restate their hopes and visions for their health and wellness. Typically, new years resolutions are a combination of physical and emotional health goals.

For many, shaping these hopes into reality is possible with what I like to call, the key system. Think of it, as a GIFT to you!

Goal formulation at the heart .
I have heard an abundance of goals and hopes that people have when it comes to fitness goals, transformations and resolutions. In my personal training practice, I most often hear immediate goals such as definition, toning and weight loss, and longer-term resolutions of maintaining daily healthy behaviors such as daily movement and healthy nutrition. One of the most beneficial things to do in the pursuit of our goals is to solidify them. Ask yourself, what are my goals? How will I achieve them? Who will I call upon to help in the process? What other resources do I need? Write your goals. Share them with your social support. Take your resolution to heart, by very definition, it is an oath!

Inspiration for that uplifting feeling.
Inspiration is a powerful, euphoric feeling that can facilitate a myriad of things such as motivation, goal achievement, and ultimately, results. Some individuals express that what they experience to be inspiring in their pursuit of health goals is the feeling through movement that makes them feel better within. Additionally, others have attributed their inspiration to
be from an internal source, perhaps a desire to reach the goal, to help them exercise with more vitality.

Fitness Planning.
Plan to achieve! Reflect on those goals you solidified. Map steps for as to how, when and what will help you get there. Make timelines and daily goals and lists for the final goal achievement.

Tracking your progress.
Think about what progress looks and feels like. Most often, people measure their fitness goals with scales, tape measurements, happenings from doctors’ visits, etc. Reflect on your progress within. I find that many clients feel immediate benefits during workouts, and those feelings carry through to enhancing other factors in their lives. “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.” - Kahlil Gibran. To help identify what will help you through your fitness process, look within and look externally to people, things, and the moments of life that make you feel inspired and inspirational!

Here you have it - the keys to your fitness! Make it your gift to yourself this season and always!
