Summer is here and it’s hot! Long-term exposure of hair to the sun and atmosphere results in damage to the cuticle layer of the hair shaft resulting in dry, drab, split, brittle or frizzy hair and ends. So what can you do with your hairstyle to keep you looking hot too? Well, here are some tips from the pros to help you manage that summer time hair.
1. Protect your color in the sun by using Colour Max UV Hair Color Defense by Pureology. Apply to wet hair before going in to the sun.
2. Do it yourself deep conditioner – put conditioner in your hair before you lay out so that the sun will open the cuticle allowing the conditioner to penetrate deeper into the hair. Rinse with cool water.
3. If you want beach hair without going to the beach use Surf Spray by Bumble and Bumble. Spray on wet or dry hair.
4. Wet your hair before swimming in chlorine so that it absorbs less of the chlorine and doesn’t alter your color.
5. The summer sun and swimming will make your hair dry so be sure to use a leave in conditioner to help retain moisture.
6. If you normally use hot hair tools (blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons) every day, try and give your hair a break during the summer months. Consider letting your hair air dry. Take a break from the heat. Casual hair is in this summer! Wear loose pony tails and natural waves. Come into the salon for a free demonstration.
7. skin Care Tip: Use a minimum of 30 SPF and re-apply every hour to avoid the “accidental burn.” Also, use a facial serum with Vitamin C to ward against premature aging. The Vitamin C serum is also a powerful antioxidant.
